The Others – Training for Neighbourhood

I only call my neighbor “The Buffalo” anyway

“The Others” was about investigating the phenomenon of neighbourhood in the Basel triangle. I stood on the street with a sign saying “Show me your neighbours”. That’s how I got to know residents of Basel whom I visited at home. I had their neighbours shown or described to me.

From the texts and themes that came up, I then interlinked them with other performers to create the multi-level “Training for Neighbourhood” in the boxing club of the Basel barracks.

The elements of the training included: Personal training to overcome the cynicism towards “The Others”, a lecture performance about “The Others”, a radio play about a neighbourhood disaster scenario, sound spectral analysis of neighbourhood noises (sex, drilling machine, snoring, TV), and at the end a group training for the utopian development of neighbourhood.
